Baseball Recap: Temple City Comes Up Short

Temple City had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-11-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the Monrovia Wildcats by a score of 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Monrovia, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Monrovia's part, they got a great performance from Alex Myers as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 6.1 innings pitched. Myers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sully Zinn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Temple City wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against La Salle on the 12th. As for Monrovia, they have also already played their next game, an 8-7 win against South Pasadena on the 14th.
