Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Cornerstone Charter's game on Wednesday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Chatham Charter Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-47 back in November.

Cornerstone Charter's loss came despite strong showings from Jackson Shaffrey and Lake Bristol. Shaffrey dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards, while Bristol went 6-for-10 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Shaffrey is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.

Chatham Charter found their leader in sophomore Ryder Murphy, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Murphy has scored all season. Kymani Wagner-Jatta also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

The defeat snapped Cornerstone Charter's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record. As for Chatham Charter, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Charter will welcome Clover Garden School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will be up against the Grizzlies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Chatham Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wheatmore at 7:30 p.m. The Knights' defense better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 52.8 points per game this season.
