Basketball Recap: Lehi Wins High-Profile Game Against Timpview

On Tuesday, Lehi faced Timpview in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Lehi Pioneers secured a 35-29 W over the Timpview Thunderbirds. The 35-point effort marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Lehi's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Hill, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynlee Cook, who earned six points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malia Latu, who put up seven points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Latu has posted since back in November of 2023. Bella Ballin was another key player, putting up nine points.

The win (which was Lehi's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Timpview, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.

Lehi wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-44 defeat against Provo on the 19th. As for Timpview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-35 loss against Salem Hills on the 19th.
