Basketball Recap: San Lorenzo Valley Comes Up Short

San Lorenzo Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Aptos Mariners and fell 70-31. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1108th, while the Mariners are ranked 174th).

San Lorenzo Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Lonan Dickinson and Wyatt Himmelstrup. Dickinson posted nine points along with six boards and four steals, while Himmelstrup had nine points and three steals. What's more, Himmelstrup also posted a 57% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024.

San Lorenzo Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Aptos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

San Lorenzo Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 64-54 win against Harbor on the 4th. As for Aptos, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-40 victory against Soquel on the 4th.
