Volleyball Recap: Fairfield Indians vs. Wyoming Cowboys
After flying high against Middletown on Thursday, Fairfield came back down to earth. The Indians fell just short of the Wyoming Cowboys by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2019.
Fairfield took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-12, 15-5.
Kennedy Ostendorf paced Fairfield's offense, picking up 30 kills. Ostendorf got some help from Rose Rodriguez and her 22 assists. Ashlyn Cline controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Fairfield's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Wyoming, they moved to 7-8 with that win, which also ended their three-match losing streak.
Coming up, Fairfield will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Archbishop Alter at 6:00 p.m. The Indians are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Wyoming, they are taking a road trip to take on Deer Park at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
