Recap: Holy Cross Lancers vs. Pemberton Hornets

The Holy Cross Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Pemberton by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Holy Cross has suffered yet this season.

Despite the loss, Holy Cross still got an impressive performance from Emmanuel Doku, who scored 21 points. That was a full 42% of Holy Cross' points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avian Novoa, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Holy Cross has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Pemberton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.

Holy Cross will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bordentown at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Bordentown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday. Pemberton will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Medford Tech at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Medford Tech presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pemberton in New Jersey (Medford Tech is ranked 78th, while Pemberton is ranked 271st).
