Basketball Recap: Mifflin Takes a Loss

Mifflin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 78-8 loss at the hands of the Centennial Stars. The Punchers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-4.

Centennial's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aza Corbett, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 boards. The contest was Corbett's third in a row with at least ten points. Kayla Houston was another key player, going 13 of 20 en route to 29 points and five steals.

Mifflin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Centennial, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Mifflin is taking a road trip to challenge Columbus International at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lincoln at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Centennial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
