Basketball Game Preview: Rocky Mountain Lobos vs. Heritage Eagles

The Rocky Mountain Lobos will face off against the Heritage Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Rocky Mountain can't be too worried about heading out to take on Heritage: they just beat Fossil Ridge at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Rocky Mountain snuck past Fossil Ridge with a 60-55 win on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lobos' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the SaberCats are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They enjoyed a cozy 86-70 win over Douglas County on Saturday. The Eagles have beaten the Huskies the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Huskies has come to flipping the script.

Heritage's win came from a few key players Rocky Mountain will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trystan Rangel, who went 10-for-20 on his way to 28 points. The match was his seventh in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Chaney, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Heritage's record now sits at 11-12. As for Rocky Mountain, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
