The much-anticipated showdown between St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) and Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) will arrive next Friday with its proper billing.

Following Friday night victories, the Trinity League rivals will meet next week as the top two teams in the country.

Top-ranked Bosco (7-0) needed four touchdowns from Kristopher Hutson, two on kickoff returns and two receptions from DJ Uiagalelei, to break open a close game late with a 63-28 win over a tough Orange Lutheran team. Bosco had three special teams touchdowns overall.

Uiagalelei, the top junior quarterback prospect in the country, accounted for four touchdowns.

Mater Dei 5-star junior quarterback Bryce Young threw two touchdowns apiece to wideout Bru McCoy and tight end Mike Martinez to defeat Santa Margarita 49-7.

Now the two rivals, with more than 40 FBS recruits, will square off next Friday at the Santa Ana Bowl. Mater Dei (6-1) beat third-ranked IMG Academy 28-24 on Sept. 21 at Santa Ana in another highly-anticipated game this year featuring loads of college recruits.

This will be the eighth time since 2000 the top two teams will face off, the last time to start the 2017 season when then top-ranked Mater Dei defeated No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) 35-21.

Mater Dei, the defending national champion, took a forfeit loss to open the 2018 season after self-reporting it had used an ineligible player. Mater Dei won the game on the field over Bishop Amat, 42-14.

The Monarchs beat Bosco twice last season en route to their first state title, 31-21 and 49-24.
