Baseball Recap: Chino Valley Cougars vs. Kingman Bulldogs
Chino Valley's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past the Kingman Bulldogs 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Jacob Boivin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Kaycin Pickett and Caden Todd did most of the damage at the plate: Pickett scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Todd scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave Pickett a new career-high. Jaks McNair also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
The win got Chino Valley back to even at 5-5-1. As for Kingman, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chino Valley will venture away from home to take on Odyssey Institute at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Odyssey Institute has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.13 runs per game on average), something Chino Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kingman, they will head out on the road to square off against Parker at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
