Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Prep Saints vs. The First Academy Royals

The Trinity Prep Saints will face off against The First Academy Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Trinity Prep has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while The First Academy will arrive with six straight victories.

On Wednesday, Trinity Prep ended up a good deal behind Master's Academy and lost 73-56. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while the Eagles are ranked 63rd).

Meanwhile, The First Academy beat Bishop Moore 66-56 on Tuesday.

Trinity Prep better focus on containing Demetrice McCray and Corey Capps as the pair were huge in The First Academy's win. McCray went 7 of 12 en route to 22 points, while Capps went 5 of 7 on his way to 17 points along with five boards and three steals. McCray is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Simmons, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

The First Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Trinity Prep, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-11.
