Basketball Game Preview: University Prep Pumas vs. South Whidbey Falcons

Having just played yesterday, the University Prep Pumas will head out on the road to face off against the South Whidbey Falcons at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

University Prep got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 victory over Granite Falls.

Meanwhile, South Whidbey's game on Saturday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 66-57 win over East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum]. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

South Whidbey's win came from a few key players University Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Grady Davis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Redford, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

South Whidbey was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

South Whidbey's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. As for University Prep, their record now sits at 3-9.

University Prep took a serious blow against South Whidbey in their previous meeting back in January, falling 58-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Redford, who went 9 for 12 en route to 20 points and four steals.
