Volleyball Recap: Rock Academy Takes Down Mar Vista in a Playoff Battle

Rock Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Mar Vista Mariners on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Rock Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Mar Vista between 18 and 21 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-18, 25-21.

Alexa Baird paced Rock Academy's offense, picking up 11 kills. Baird got some help from Daniella Lara and her 16 assists. Aliya Landes controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Rock Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Mar Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-25.

Coming up, Rock Academy will square off against San Ysidro at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mar Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
