Basketball Recap: Spring Valley Extends Winning Streak to Four

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spring Valley). They walked away with an 87-77 win over the Westland Cougars on Saturday. The Timberwolves 's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Spring Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clay Robertson, who posted 27 points. Robertson's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Colton Caldwell, who had 19 points.

Westland's loss came despite strong showings from Breaker Heller Jr. and Phoenix Funderburke. Heller Jr. dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 assists, while Funderburke went 10 of 19 on his way to 25 points. Those 25 points gave Heller Jr. a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Jones, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points.

Spring Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Westland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Spring Valley and Preston will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Preston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. As for Westland, they will face off against Jenkins at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Jenkins will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Westland surely won't give up without a fight.
