Recap: Mile High Academy Mustangs vs. Belleview Christian Bruins
The Mile High Academy Mustangs struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Belleview Christian Bruins had 22 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mile High Academy took a serious blow against Belleview Christian, falling 89-31. Mile High Academy has not had much luck with Belleview Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Mile High Academy saw an underclassman step up: Max Ramos scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ramos has scored all season.
Mile High Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Belleview Christian to victory were Brandon Ewing and Garrett Owen. Ewing dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Owen scored 29 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Ewing's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Norman, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Mile High Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-2. As for Belleview Christian, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mile High Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Denver Academy of Torah at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. Denver Academy of Torah and Mile High Academy are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Belleview Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Denver Waldorf at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Denver Waldorf is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
