Basketball Recap: Greater Destiny Prep Academy Takes a Loss

Greater Destiny Prep Academy lost against Word of God Christian Academy National back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Greater Destiny Prep Academy Warriors fell 66-56 to the Word of God Christian Academy National Holy Rams. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Holy Rams are ranked 43rd).

Word of God Christian Academy National's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Jackson, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Jackson posted two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Camontae Griffin, who went 7-for-10 en route to 13 points.

Greater Destiny Prep Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points over those games. The victory (which was Word of God Christian Academy National's seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-10.

Greater Destiny Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Word of God Christian Academy National, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Elevation Prep Academy. Word of God Christian Academy National knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Elevation Prep Academy likes a good challenge.
