Basketball Recap: Bucklin Piles Up the Points Against Ashland

A well-balanced attack led Bucklin over Ashland in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bucklin Red Aces blew the Ashland Blue Jays out of the water with a 58-30 final score. The Red Aces haven't had any issues with the Blue Jays recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Leading Bucklin to victory were Emmy Kirk and Karlee Evans. Kirk went 8-for-17 to rack up 23 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds, while Evans went 8-for-12 on her way to 22 points along with six boards and three steals. What's more, Evans also posted two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Addison Hoffman also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first rebound of the season.

Ashland's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Biannca Ceniceros, who scored seven points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Molly Harris, who earned five points and seven rebounds.

Bucklin's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points over those games. As for Ashland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Bucklin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-32 win against Macksville on the 14th. As for Ashland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-46 victory against Spearville on the 14th.
