Soccer Game Preview: Lely vs. Estero

Lely is 0-10 against Estero since November of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Lely Trojans will host the Estero Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lely's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Golden Gate 3-0. The Trojans better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Ava Ferreira, as she scored every single goal for her team.

Meanwhile, Estero entered their tilt with Gulf Coast on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Sharks by a score of 2-0. Give the Wildcats' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Estero pushed their record up to 10-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three matches. As for Lely, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7-2.

Lely suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Estero when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Lely avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
