Baseball Game Preview: Penfield Patriots vs. Hilton Cadets

The Penfield Patriots will challenge the Hilton Cadets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Penfield managed to slip by Fairport the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Patriots came up short against the Red Raiders on Saturday, falling 12-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered since April 10, 2024.

Ethan Light made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brady Beganny, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Hilton fell victim to Webster Thomas and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 7-0 to the Titans. The game marked the first time this year in which the Cadets were not able to get on the board.

Penfield now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Hilton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Penfield couldn't quite get it done against Hilton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
