Basketball Recap: Southern Beats Severn Run for Their Second Straight Victory

If Severn Run wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Southern, they should've done a better job of containing Huntyr Marks. The Southern Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 46-32 win over Severn Run on Tuesday thanks in part to Marks, who dropped a triple-double on 22 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Southern's points.

Several Severn Run players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordyn Acree, who posted 18 points along with seven boards and three steals. Acree's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ife Oyeneyin, who put up four points and 11 rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Southern and bumps their season record up to 5-7. As for Severn Run, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Southern will square off against Chesapeake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chesapeake has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Severn Run, they will take on South River at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
