Basketball Game Preview: Hampton Bulldogs vs. Gate City Blue Devils

Having just played yesterday, the Hampton Bulldogs will get right back to it and host the Gate City Blue Devils at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Hampton's favor as the team sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Gate City has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Friday, Hampton narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past West Greene 51-48. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Gate City suffered their closest defeat since December 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Ridgeview by a score of 63-60.

Gate City's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Hampton, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7.

Hampton was able to grind out a solid win over Gate City in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 61-54. Will Hampton repeat their success, or does Gate City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
