Volleyball Game Preview: Davidson Day Patriots vs. Asheville School (Independent) Blues

The Davidson Day Patriots will challenge the Asheville School (Independent) Blues on Saturday. Davidson Day is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Last Thursday, Davidson Day got the win against Winston Salem Christian by a conclusive 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-20, 25-15.

Davidson Day got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lilly Marinelli out in front who had seven aces and five digs. Those seven aces gave Marinelli a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Mitchell, who had six digs and four aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Davidson Day was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 16 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Asheville School (Independent) rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 19-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Asheville School (Independent)'s win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Davidson Day, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.

Davidson Day took their win against Asheville School (Independent) in their previous meeting back in October of 2018 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Blues have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
