Softball Game Preview: Hanover Nighthawks vs. York Catholic Fighting Irish

The Hanover Nighthawks are taking a road trip to challenge the York Catholic Fighting Irish at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hanover is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Biglerville, falling 21-4.

Elizabeth Valentine made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Rutledge, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for York Catholic's offense. They lost 15-0 to Delone Catholic on Wednesday. The Fighting Irish's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

York Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Hanover, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Hanover might still be hurting after the 17-5 defeat they got from York Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Nighthawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
