Baseball Game Preview: Merrill Vandals vs. Sacred Heart Academy Irish

The Merrill Vandals will head out on the road to face off against the Sacred Heart Academy Irish at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Merrill's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Coleman with a sharp 11-0 win. The Vandals have beaten the Comets the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Comets has come to flipping the script.

Sacred Heart Academy came out on top against Vestaburg on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Irish were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Wolverines. 11 seems to be a good number for the Irish as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The win made it two in a row for Sacred Heart Academy and bumps their season record up to 14-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Merrill, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.

Merrill might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Sacred Heart Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Vandals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
