Recap: Wickenburg Wranglers vs. Fountain Hills Falcons
The Wickenburg Wranglers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 88-24 loss at the hands of Fountain Hills. While losing is never fun, Wickenburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Fountain Hills is ranked 102nd).
Fountain Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Heaney, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Michael Fitzherbert, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Wickenburg has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Fountain Hills, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wickenburg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Camp Verde at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Fountain Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Phoenix Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Phoenix Christian is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
