Volleyball Recap: Esther Ji and Zulal Merdinian Secure Win for Belmont

Belmont won the last time they faced Stoneham and things went their way on Thursday too. The Marauders walked away with a 3-1 win over the Spartans.

The final score came out to 25-22, 19-25, 25-17, 25-18.

Leading Belmont to victory were Zulal Merdinian and Esther Ji. Merdinian had nine digs and two assists, while Ji had nine aces and seven digs. Those nine aces gave Ji a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Belmont was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in nine consecutive contests.

Belmont's victory ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 8-8. As for Stoneham, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 8-8.

Belmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Wayland on the 17th. As for Stoneham, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Saugus on the 18th.
