After only one run in their last matchup, Tidehaven made sure to put some runs up on the board against Industrial on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cobras with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Tigers have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kailea Freeman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tidehaven got a massive performance out of Kayleigh Nash, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Maleah Galvan, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Tidehaven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Industrial only posted an OBP of .360.
With the victory, Tidehaven broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-11. As for Industrial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-5-1.
Coming up, Tidehaven will welcome Rice Consolidated at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Industrial, they will head out on the road to take on Yoakum at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cobras will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Bulldogs will have lost four straight heading into Friday's matchup.
