Softball Game Preview: Pueblo Warriors vs. Douglas Bulldogs

The Pueblo Warriors will square off against the Douglas Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Pueblo's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Amphitheater 17-0. Considering the Warriors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Pueblo let Mari Vallejo and Renata Nu?ez run wild. Vallejo scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Nu?ez went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Nu?ez has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Camila Duarte, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Pueblo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Douglas put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Rincon/University with a sharp 14-4 victory. Fans of the Bulldogs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Pueblo's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Douglas, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Pueblo took their win against Douglas in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 11-3. Does Pueblo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Douglas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
