Basketball Recap: Sunny Hills Skates Past Sierra Vista with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Sunny Hills over Sierra Vista in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Sunny Hills Lancers blew the Sierra Vista Dons out of the water with a 72-40 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-15.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sunny Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kamron Tonga, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Tonga has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Raeden Bobadilla, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

Sunny Hills was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sierra Vista only racked up seven assists.

Despite the loss, Sierra Vista still got an impressive performance from Aaron Buna, who posted 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dario De La Fuente-Servin, who had seven points.

Sunny Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Sierra Vista, they moved to 7-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Sunny Hills won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sunny Hills will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Sierra Vista, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Apple Valley at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Sierra Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season.
