Softball Recap: South Pemiscot Extends Winning Streak to Four

South Pemiscot came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Campbell Camels. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Phoenix Simmons made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Ta'Kylah Wooden was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Ma'Leah Duckworth was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

South Pemiscot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campbell only posted an OBP of .250.

South Pemiscot's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Campbell, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, South Pemiscot will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Delta at 11:00 a.m. As for Campbell, they will head out to challenge Bernie at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
