Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Roncalli's 13th in Last 14 Outings

Roncalli had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Shelbyville Golden Bears 7-5.

Nico Amodeo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Luke Baker was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Manship, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Roncalli is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Shelbyville, the loss snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 17-8 record.

Roncalli didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-1 victory against Greenwood on the 31st. Shelbyville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
