Basketball Game Preview: Sam Houston Hurricanes vs. Brackenridge Eagles

The Sam Houston Hurricanes will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Brackenridge Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sam Houston has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the third.

Last Friday, Sam Houston might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Burbank an easy 82-56 victory.

Meanwhile, Brackenridge was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 71-44 loss at the hands of Burbank. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 27 points.

Sam Houston will have to keep a close watch on Felton Nance and Ethan Polendo, a pair of players who had a big impact on Brackenridge's prior game. Nance went 7 of 14 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds, while Polendo posted ten points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maximus Mendez, who put up five points.

Even though they lost, Brackenridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Brackenridge's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Sam Houston, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.

Things could have been worse for Sam Houston, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 72-58 loss to Brackenridge in their previous meeting back in January. Can Sam Houston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
