Softball Recap: Beecher Continues Road Dominance on Monday

Beecher put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over the Mt. Zion Braves. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bobcats, who until this matchup were averaging 1.46 runs allowed.

The team relied heavily on Makenzie Johnson, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Grooms, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Beecher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

Beecher's victory was their 24th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Zion, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Beecher didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-1 victory against Momence on the 19th. As for Mt. Zion, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 4-3 defeat against Normal Community on the 15th.
