Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Pueblo's Third in Last Four Outings

If Desert View wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Pueblo, they should've done a better job of containing Silverio Rivera. The Pueblo Warriors walked away with a 66-58 win over the Desert View Jaguars on Thursday thanks in part to Rivera, who went 7 of 17 en route to 18 points and five assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Anthony Carranza, who posted six points and seven assists. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played.

Despite the loss, Desert View still got an impressive performance from Luis Felix, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Aiden Beavers was another key player, putting up eight points along with five assists and four steals.

Pueblo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Desert View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo will take on Buena at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Desert View, they will challenge Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Desert View is facing Douglas at the right time seeing as Douglas is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
