Volleyball Recap: Sidney Beats Northmont for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Sidney proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Northmont Thunderbolts. The victory was familiar territory for the Yellowjackets, who have now won five matches in a row.

Sidney got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The final score came out to 25-22, 30-32, 25-23, 23-25, 16-14.

Sidney was led to victory by Ahniyah Wilson and Marly Coons. Wilson had 20 digs and eight aces, while Coons had three digs and two aces. That's the most digs Wilson has posted over her last seven matchups.

They weren't the only good servers: Sidney was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive contests.

Northmont's loss came despite strong showings from Brianna Abels and Halie Hill. Abels had 54 assists and 15 digs, while Hill had 21 digs and two aces. Abels has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 12 times she's played.

Sidney's record is now 13-3. As for Northmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Sidney wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against West Carrollton on the 23rd. As for Northmont, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Beavercreek on the 23rd.
