Basketball Recap: Living Word Lutheran Piles Up the Points Against Montello

With a playoff win on the line, Living Word Lutheran rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 73-44 win over the Montello Hilltoppers. The Timberwolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Leading Living Word Lutheran to victory were Delaney Winkelmann and Kaleah Alles. Winkelmann on her way to 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals, while Alles to rack up 25 points along with seven boards and six assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Alles has scored at least a third of Living Word Lutheran's points. Makenna Bynum was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Living Word Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive games.

Living Word Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Montello is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

Coming up, Living Word Lutheran will square off against Westfield Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Montello does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
