Baseball Game Preview: Prosser Mustangs vs. Othello Huskies

Prosser hasn't had much luck against Othello recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Prosser will take on Othello at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Prosser took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Sunnyside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Prosser sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Sunnyside on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

The team relied heavily on Jacob Rainer, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Rainer is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Landon BaiLey was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Prosser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Othello earned a 4-1 victory over North Kitsap on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly three runs.

Prosser now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Othello, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Prosser couldn't quite get it done against Othello in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can Prosser avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
