Softball Recap: Dock Mennonite Pioneers vs. Bristol Warriors

After flying high against Delaware County Christian last Monday, Dock Mennonite came back down to earth. The Dock Mennonite Pioneers lost 19-9 to the Bristol Warriors on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Dock Mennonite of the 10-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

For Bristol's part, Brianna Slack spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits. Slack has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Cayleigh Januszka was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Perseponko, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Dock Mennonite's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Bristol, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Dock Mennonite will take on MAST Community Charter at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. MAST Community Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Bristol, they will be playing at home against Bensalem at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Bristol knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Bensalem likes a good challenge.
