Football Recap: Hayden Falls to Norwood in First Game of Season

Hayden unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Norwood Mavericks by a score of 20-18 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 12-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Hayden's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Peyton Johnson, who rushed for 158 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and Carson Campbell, who gained 103 total yards. An impressive showing, but Campbell really ramped things up playing D: he made 16 total tackles and defended one pass.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hayden will welcome Sargent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Norwood, they will host Vail Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
