Recap: Victory Christian Academy Knights vs. Olympian Eagles

The Victory Christian Academy Knights proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 45) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Olympian and snuck past 66-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Edmond hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. Isaiah Owens was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals and two blocks.

Olympian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tristan Anderson, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Anderson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Walker, who scored 14 points.

Victory Christian Academy's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-8. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.1 points. As for Olympian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Sundevils at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. Mt. Carmel will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Olympian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mariners at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mar Vista will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 714th, while the Eagles are ranked 144th).
