Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eustace). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Winona Wildcats a 20-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Madilyn Andrews made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Andrews was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Landrie Baker was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Bryleigh Powers was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Eustace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Eustace's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Winona, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.
Looking ahead, Eustace will host Edgewood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winona, they will head out on the road to square off against Quitman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
