Basketball Game Preview: Washington Huskies vs. San Mateo Bearcats

The Washington Huskies will face off against the San Mateo Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Washington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully San Mateo likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Washington beat Irvington 79-70. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Vikings are ranked 805th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Washington had a senior duo take command as Esean Johnson dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists and Gianni Clark went 9 of 15 on his way to 23 points. The game was Clark's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Uynam Trinh, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, San Mateo entered their tilt with Capuchino on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Mustangs, posting a 72-37 win.

San Mateo has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Washington, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
