Basketball Recap: Gateway Christian Takes a Loss

Gateway Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Newcomb on Thursday. The Gateway Christian Warriors took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newcomb Skyhawks.

Newcomb's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lethia Yazzie led the charge by putting up 13 points and six steals. That's the most steals Yazzie has posted since back in January. DelShay Henio was another key player, posting 13 points and four steals.

Gateway Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Newcomb, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Gateway Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 38-15 win against Escalante on the 13th. As for Newcomb, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 71-53 victory against Mescalero Apache on the 13th.
