Baseball Game Preview: Prairie Mustangs vs. Peetz Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Prairie will face off against Peetz. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Prairie gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Peetz by a score of 10-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Peetz's part, Conner Schumacher put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Schumacher has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Peetz's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Logan Vallier was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Peetz is 2-1 when Vallier posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise. Rhyder Bayne was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Prairie back to even at 4-4. As for Peetz, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
