Baseball Recap: Starks Snaps 13-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Starks made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Cameron, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Starks was the clear victor by a 15-3 margin over South Cameron on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Kaison Howard made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Starks' success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 1-9 when he doesn't). Howard was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Braden Holloway was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Gore, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Starks' victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9. As for South Cameron, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Starks will have a chance to go back-to-back against South Cameron: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
