Football Recap: Bluffton Takes a Loss

If Bluffton was feeling good fresh off their 45-13 takedown of Allen East last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbus Grove Bulldogs on Friday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Bluffton lost, don't look at Tayte Giesige. Despite the final result, he rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 226 yards and one TD while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Blayne Hill was Giesige's top target, picking up 62 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 50 yards.

Bluffton's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Columbus Grove, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Bluffton has already played their next matchup, a 36-31 defeat against Western Reserve on the 31st. As for Columbus Grove, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Gibsonburg at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Golden Bears' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
