Softball Game Preview: Prairie du Chien Blackhawks vs. Platteville Hillmen

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks will head out to take on the Platteville Hillmen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Prairie du Chien and Dodgeville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Blackhawks took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dodgers. The Blackhawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Rita Achenbach was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-6 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. April Smith was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, Platteville didn't have quite enough to beat East Dubuque on Monday and fell 4-2.

Platteville dropped their record down to 6-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Prairie du Chien, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.

Prairie du Chien was able to grind out a solid win over Platteville in their previous matchup back in April, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
