Softball Recap: Ardrey Kell Takes a Loss

After flying high against Palisades on Tuesday, Ardrey Kell came back down to earth. Ardrey Kell fell just short of the Porter Ridge Pirates by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 6-0 to the Pirates when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ardrey Kell saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Volturno, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Even though they lost, Ardrey Kell hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in seven consecutive matches.

With the loss, Ardrey Kell broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-6. As for Porter Ridge, they moved to 5-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Ardrey Kell has already played their next game, an 11-9 defeat against Independence on the 27th. As for Porter Ridge, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Palisades at 4:30 p.m.
