Basketball Game Preview: Merino Rams vs. Wiggins Tigers

The Merino Rams will take on the Wiggins Tigers in a tournament on Thursday. Merino is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

On Friday, Merino ended up a good deal behind Highland and lost 58-43.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Wiggins on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Sedgwick County out of the water with a 64-34 final score. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Wiggins' win came from a few key players Merino will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jackson Adams, who shot 70% from the field on his way to 16 points along with eight assists and four steals. The last time his field goal percentage was this high was back in December of 2024. Michael Adamson was another key player, going 9-for-22 en route to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Wiggins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Wiggins now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Merino, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Merino might still be hurting after the 58-32 defeat they got from Wiggins when the teams last played back in January. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
