The Lodi Flames will challenge the Atwater Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lodi 2.7, Atwater 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Atwater will be up against a hot Lodi team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Flames' pitcher stepped up to hand Tokay a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Flames, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Ashlyn Jubrey, who gave up just two hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Tokay off the board.

On the hitting side, Arissa Torres and Taylor Weigum did most of the damage at the plate: Torres went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Weigum went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Those two hits gave Weigum a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allison Frank, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Lodi hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Atwater has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.82 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They came up short against Orestimba, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Falcons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Atwater saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaydence Armando, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Lodi pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Atwater, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 21-7 record.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lodi hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like Atwater struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
